BAFTA (the British Academy of Film and Television Arts) has released it’s preliminary longlists for all its 2012 award categories. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 has made the cut in 11 different categories! The categories are:
- Outstanding British Film
- Editing
- Adapted Screenplay
- Production Design
- Cinematography
- Make Up & Hair
- Costume Design
- Sound
- Special Visual Effects
- Original Music
- Supporting Actor – Alan Rickman
Additionally, a few Potter actors are in contention for acting nominations for roles outside Harry Potter. Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort), Gary Oldman (Sirius), and Brendan Gleeson (Moody) are all listed in the Leading Actor category for Coriolanus, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and The Guard respectively. Jim Broadbent (Slughorn), John Hurt (Ollivander) and Kenneth Branagh (Lockhart) are alongside Alan Rickman in Supporting Actor. And Zoe Wanamaker (Madam Hooch) is longlisted for Supporting Actress.
Each category will be narrowed down to five final nominees, with voting beginning today, and the announcement being made on January 17th. The final award ceremony will take place on Sunday 12th February. Good luck to all!
