Here, courtesy of hypable.com, is a first look at some new information from the Collection. Warner Bros. has released three pages from the Catalogue of Artefacts and here is what they said about the book:

This 48-page rigid book was created by MinaLima Design: Eduardo Lima, Miraphora Mina and Lauren Wakefield, former graphic designers on the Harry Potter films. Filled with their favorite props from the films designed in “shadow boxes,” this stunning catalogue can only be found in the Wizard’s Collection.

One of the above mentioned designers, Lauren Wakefield, had this to say in a recent interview about her work with the Collection:

These props have an unusual history in that they were all designed, crafted and archived within one studio setting, by in-house designers and craftspeople. We wanted the catalogue to bring together this unique family of artefacts, in a logical but creative way, and to capture the magic they brought to the films. Shadow boxes were a charming way to pay homage to the working environment of the film studios and to suggest how, for each set, there would usually be a collection of props standing by, ready for action.

The official release date is set for September 7, 2012. The official press release reveals new never-before-seen footage that will be included in the collection.

Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection Bonus Disc: four hours of features, including: “The Harry Potters You Never Met” – watch how thrilling stunts from the films were performed, and learn about the tricks behind the major stunts in the series.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 Bonus Disc: two hours of features, including: “Creating the World of Harry Potter, Pt.7: Story”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 Bonus Disc: four hours of features, including: “Creating the World of Harry Potter, Pt. 8: Growing Up”, extended “A Conversation with JK Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe” with 15 minutes of new footage

Exclusive Premiums: exclusive memorabilia including a Map of Hogwarts, concept art prints, catalogues of props and posters, all designed by the graphic designers from the films

Every week from now until September, a new feature from the collection will be revealed on the official Harry Potter website. As previously stated, the cost of the collection is set at $499.99 but you can purchase it from Amazon.com for $349.99. You can view the new trailer for the collection below. The movie set has not yet been confirmed by Warner Bros nor has the released date been announced. Amazon has listed the retail value as $499.99 but you can save 30% and only spend $349.99 if you purchase from Amazon.

Amazon’s affiliate in Canada listed the total contents of the Wizards Collection. It will include 31 discs, with 18 movie and 13 special features. Below is a list of the included discs and the promo photos and video as well.

  • Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Theatrical Version and Extended Cut
  • Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets Theatrical Version and Extended Cut
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 1 2D/3D Versions

The special features discs with include an extra 5 hours of never before seen footage. The definitive set will also include collectible memorabilia, such as concept art, a Map of Hogwarts and much more. We will update when more information becomes available. Today, December 29th, this process has started, and stock on websites and in stores will not be replenished.

So if you are in the US, get your orders in for HP DVDs soon! They won’t be around for much longer.

However, they will not be gone forever, as WB does plan to release a new ‘Definitive Collection’ in around a year or so.
