I was inspired to support the END7 campaign when I learned how easy it was for young people to get involved. By donating just a few pence, anyone can help get these treatments to people who need them most and hopefully change the future for the millions of children growing up in developing countries around the world.

END7 is a campaign to see the end of 7 diseases by 2020. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the primary funder. The campaign is led by the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases (globalnetwork.org), an initiative of the Sabin Vaccine Institute. 1 in 6 people worldwide, including over half a billion children, have these parasitic and bacterial diseases living and breeding in their bodies. They stop children from going to school. They stop parents from going to work. And they take away any chance these communities have of …lifting themselves out of poverty. Without treatment, they can lead to lifelong disabilities and suffering.

NTDs cause blindness, massive swelling in appendages and limbs, severe malnutrition and anaemia. These diseases prevent children from growing and learning. They reduce adults’ economic productivity and ability to care for their families, and thus keep families and communities trapped in a cycle of poverty and disease. The END7 campaign, launched in January 2012 by the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases, an initiative of the Sabin Vaccine Institute, aims to raise the public awareness and funding required to cover the cost of distributing medicine and setting up treatment programmes for NTDs. It is the first comprehensive public awareness campaign dedicated to NTD treatment and elimination and relies heavily on compelling visual content disseminated through various social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to spread its message.

Tom is confirmed to be starring in Tony Kaye’s Attachment, supposedly a “sexual thriller”, opposite Sharon Stone! From ComingSoon.net:

Tom Felton will be starring opposite Sharon Stone in Tony Kaye’s upcoming sexual thriller, Attachment, the director told ComingSoon.net today.

The film, written by Christopher Denham, stars Stone as a married woman and teacher who shares a night of infidelity with one of her students. Afterward, the student begins to stalk her and her family as he dates her own teenage daughter.

Felton, best known for the “Harry Potter” series, will play the student antagonist and the plan is to begin production in the next couple of months.

Tom has also been linked with another film, Fangs of War, which has been called “Inglorious Basterds” meets “Dracula”.

Rupert meanwhile has reportedly joined The Drummer, a star-studded Beach Boys biopic, along with young actress Chloe Moretz. This is what the Hollywood Reporter has to say:

Chloë Grace Moretz and Rupert Grint have joined the all-star cast of The Drummer, the biopic of Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson from directing and writing duo Randall Miller and Jody Savin

Aaron Eckhart is portraying Wilson while Vera Farmiga is playing Fleetwood Mac member and Wilson’s lover Christine McVie in the project tackling the last six years of Wilson’s life (he died in 1983), when the singer-songwriter released his acclaimed solo album Pacific Ocean Blue.

Moretz will play Wilson’s daughter, Jennifer Wilson, who was there while the musician went through the darkest days of his life. Grint will portray Stan Shapiro, the wide-eyed William Morris mailroom intern who became a close friend and confidante to the man.

The film will begin shooting June 15 in locations in California and Savannah, Georgia.

Felton will host a panel about his work on the Potter films as Malfoy on Saturday the 18th at 10:20am. He will also be available for photos on February 17 at 4pm, February 18 at noon and 4:35pm, and February 19 at noon.
