Location: Alnwick Castle, Northumberland NE66 1NQ Filmed here: Hogwarts exterior Several exterior shots of Alnwick Castle were used as Hogwarts throughout the films, including Quidditch training in Philosopher's Stone, the Flying Ford Anglia scenes in CoS, and Hagrid bringing in the Christmas Tree. Location: Lacock village, Wiltshire Filmed here: Potter's house, Budleigh Babberton This small picturesque village has been a major filming location for the Harry Potter films. The Potter's house and a church that were shown briefly in Philosopher's Stone were filmed there, along with Slughorn's temporary home of Budleigh Babberton in Half-Blood Prince. Location: Lacock Abbey, Wiltshire Filmed here: Mirror of Erised, classroom's of Snape & Quirrell On the outskirts of Lacock Village, this Abbey was used for several Hogwarts interior scenes in the earlier movies, including the Mirror of Erised scenes, and Professors Snape and Quirrell's classrooms. Its cloisters were also used as some of Hogwart's corridors and the courtyard made an appearance as well. Find on Google Maps >> |

Location: Goathland railway station, North Yorkshire Filmed here: Hogsmeade Station Goathland Railway Station was used for Hogsmeade Station in the films. The North Yorkshire village of Goathland is also famous for being the set of British TV program 'Heartbeat'. Find on Google Maps >> |

Location: Swinley Forest, Bracknell Filmed here: Deathly Hallows 1&2 forest scenes A section of this large forest near Bracknell, south east England, was used extensively for Deathly Hallows filming. Its main part in Part 1 was in the chase scene before the Trio are captured by the Snatchers. It will also appear in Part 2, with one scene involving Matthew Lewis as Neville Longbottom running through the forest with hundreds of extras behind him. Location: Picket Post Close, Bracknell RG12 9FG Filmed here: Privet Drive, PS/SS This small street in Bracknell was used in the first film as the outdoor set for the Dursleys' Privet Drive (4 Privet Drive = 12 Picket Post Close). For the later films they built a Privet Drive set at Leavesden Studios, based closely on the real street. Find on Google Maps >> |

Location: Gloucester Cathedral Filmed here: Fat Lady in PS, Writing on the Wall in CoS Scenes for Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets were filmed in the cloisters of Gloucester Cathedral, most notably the Fat Lady portrait in movie 1 and the writing on the wall and the flooded corridor scenes in movie 2. Location: Black Park, Wexham, Buckinghamshire Filmed here: Hagrid's Hut, Dragons in Forest, OotP Hogsmeade Station Black Park has been used for a few different scenes in the films. Hagrid's Hut was built and filmed here for the first two movies, it was the filming location for the scene where Hagrid shows Harry the dragons in Goblet of Fire, and they built part of the Hogsmeade Station set here for the end of film 5. Location: Duke Humfrey's Library, Bodleian Library, Oxford Filmed here: Hogwarts Library This grand library was used as the set of Hogwarts Library. Various times through the series we see Harry, Ron and Hermione browsing its vast shelves. Find on Google Maps >> |

Location: Divinity School, Oxford University Filmed here: The Hospital Wing A beautiful room here was used as Madam Pomfrey's Hospital Wing, at least in the early films. It is unclear whether they later built a set at the studios or continued used Divinity School. Find on Google Maps >> |

Location: Christ Church College, Oxford Filmed here: Corridors, staircases; inspiration for Great Hall Although not filmed here (they built a huge studio set), the Great Hall got its inspiration partially from Christ Church's Dining Hall. Some bits were filmed here, however, including the scene in the first film where the first years are greeted by McGonagall on the staircase, plus some other corridor scenes. Find on Google Maps >> |

Location: Fourth Form Room, Harrow Old Schools, Harrow School, Middlesex Filmed here: Flitwick's Charm Class This room in the Old Schools of the famous Harrow School in Middlesex was the filming location for the 'Wingardium Leviosa' Charms Class with Professor Flitwick in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Location: Freshwater West, Castlemartin, Pembrokeshire, Wales Filmed here: Shell Cottage This beach in south-west Wales appears at the end of Deathly Hallows Part 1 and beginning of Part 2 as it was used as the exterior set of Bill & Fleur's Shell Cottage. Unfortunately, the house itself was only built as a temporary set, so you won't see it if you visit the area. Find on Google Maps >> |

Location: Durham Cathedral Filmed here: Corridors and Classrooms Several scenes from the first two movies were filmed at Durham Cathedral, in the north west of England, including classrooms, corridors, and outdoor courtyard shots. Location: Lavenham, Suffolk Filmed here: Godric's Hollow Lavenham, a village in Suffolk, was used for filming the Godric's Hollow scenes in Deathly Hallows Part 1, and it is believed that Lavenham Guildhall is the building used as the Potter's house in the Prince's Tale memories in Part 2.
