Location: Australia House, Strand, London WC2B 4LA Filmed here: Gringotts The inside of this building, the Australian Embassy, was used to film the interior shots of Gringotts Bank in the very first film, Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone. Find on Google Maps >> |
Location: King's Cross station, City of London, N1 9AP Filmed here: King's Cross, Platform 9 3/4 King's Cross is J.K. Rowling's location for Platform 9 3/4, where the journey to Hogwarts begins, and much of the filming for those scenes throughout the film series took place in the real life King's Cross Train Station with a real life Hogwarts Express, between platforms 4 and 6. At the station they've even installed a Platform 9 3/4 sign and luggage trolley going into the wall to make the perfect Harry Potter fan photo opportunity. (See photo here) Find on Google Maps >> |
Location: The Glass House, Bull's Head Passage, London EC3V 1LU Filmed here: Original exterior for The Leaky Cauldron This opticians on the small side street Bull's Head Passage was used as the exterior of The Leaky Cauldron pub in the first movie. Hagrid takes Harry through here on their way to Diagon Alley. However the film makers then decided to move the pub to a new location for the latter films (see below). Find on Google Maps >> |
Location: Chez Michele Florist, 7A Stoney Street, London SE1 9AA Filmed here: The Leaky Cauldron entrance This is the revised location for the entrance to The Leaky Cauldron, used when the Knight Bus drops Harry off in Prisoner of Azkaban. The picture to the left is during PoA filming; the central brickwork and door were seemingly fake. There is a wider entrance behind for the real life florist shop. Find on Google Maps >> |
Location: Corner of Great Scotland Yard and Scotland Place Filmed here: Ministry of Magic - visitor entrance & surrounding streets This area around Great Scotland Yard in Whitehall was used in Deathly Hallows Part 1 during Harry, Ron and Hermione's preparations for entering the Ministry. However the area is perhaps better known for being the location of the MoM visitor's entrance phone box used in Order of the Phoenix. Sadly, as you can see in the top picture to the left, the phone box doesn't actually exist. You'll easily find another one somewhere in London, though. Find on Google Maps >> |
Location: Claremont Square, Islington, London N1 Filmed here: Grimmauld Place Claremont Square is the place used for the Grimmauld Place exterior shots in Order of the Phoenix and Deathly Hallows Part 1. Some think thought that Lincoln's Inn Fields, another London square, was the location of Grimmauld Place, but this is incorrect. Find on Google Maps >> |
