With Pottermore making updates until the release of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the Pottermore Insider recently announced that they are setting up a House Cup Tournament. As you already know, the House Cup is awarded to the house with the most house points at the end of the school year. On Pottermore, you can achieve house points through brewing potions and dueling. Here is what Pottermore said:

Pottermore students have been working hard on their potion-making and duelling skills to earn house points for their respective houses. Those points have been gathering and, with the numbers building up to impressive heights, we can now announce that the Pottermore House Cup will be awarded soon! The house with the greatest number of points will win the Pottermore House Cup, so keep up the duelling and brewing. We’ll be posting updates regarding the Pottermore House Cup both on the Insider and on the Pottermore Gateway, but also somewhere else… We’re pleased to announce that each Pottermore house now has its own noticeboard. Your house noticeboard can be found in your house’s common room on Pottermore – make sure you visit to stay up to date with the latest house news as we begin the countdown to the announcement of the Pottermore House Cup winner. It’s an exciting time; good luck to all houses!

E3, the video game and entertainment conference, was held earlier this past week and CinemaBlend previewed Harry Potter Kinect. They shared a few thoughts on how they thought gameplay faired on the Kinect console:

One of the games I was most excited to get my hands on at E3 this year was Harry Potter Kinect. Like using the force in Star Wars, using spells in Harry Potter through the Kinect has been a hope of mine since the technology was announced. I pretend to hold a wand and cast spells most of the time anyway. Unfortunately, also like Star Wars for Kinect, this game too generally seems underdeveloped and generic.

Where the game has potential to be special is with voice commands, allowing you to call out your spell with your voice before you cast it, just like in the Potter universe. Here, it signals the game to change your spell to whatever you want to use. Even though I was rather unimpressed with the endless leaning left and right of Quidditch and the poor aim of casting spells on Death Eaters as I ran away from them, I’m still excited to see how the voice commands play out.

This concept sounds really cool with you playing as Harry, Ron or Hermione in 30 levels, but it also seems like it might become repetitive like other Kinect games, unfortunately. This game is aimed at 6-10 year-olds so maybe they will like the repetition. It has between 4-6 hours of gameplay so that’s a lot of yelling “Expelliarmus!” at a television screen. The game is set to come out sometime in the fall, perfect for the holiday season. If anyone buys the game, or gets to test it out before its release date, let us know how the gameplay is.

The new permits, which were filed on June 1 by Universal Orlando, call for three new elements to the park including a North Station, South Station, and Connector. I’m assuming that the station would start in Universal and travel through the parks into Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Sources at Hypable.com think that the North Station would house the Hogwarts Express in Universal and South would host it in Islands of Adventure. I couldn’t agree more.

Universal Orlando has only confirmed that the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was expanding, but they have been tight-lipped about what the actual expansion entails. It makes me wonder why they are being so quiet about it. All I know, I plan to go back once the expansion has taken place, and maybe even before then. Thanks goes out to Hypable!

Rickman is playing Hilly Kristal, who was the founder of the club, and Grint is playing Dead Boys guitarist Cheetah Crome, who is the exact opposite of Ron Weasley.

CBGB is being written by Randall Miller and Jody Savin (Bottle Shock) and being produced by Kristal’s daughter, Lisa Kristal Burgmann. Shooting is scheduled to being sometime this week in New York.

Update: We have also had confirmation via RupertGrint.net that Rupert shall be starring alongside Shia LaBeouf in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman. More news on that soon.

This is looking like the year for awesome Harry Potter memorabilia. The Telegraph has just released some exciting new information. The original manuscript of Harry Potter and the Philosopher/Sorceror’s Stone will be on display for the world to see. The British Library is hosting the Writing Britain: Wastelands to Wonderlands exhibit from May 11 until September 25 of this year. The pages from the story where Harry gets on the Hogwarts Express at Platform 9 3/4 will be on display as well. Dan: Your Harry Potter character, Bellatrix Lestrange, is one of the scariest characters in the books. But I think it’s fair to say that she is very playful and quite sexy as well.

Helena: When they sent the part, I thought, What am I going to do here? Because, actually, on the page, she wasn’t all there, so I thought, Well, you’ve got to be noticed. And Bellatrix-kids were terrified of her. So I think, Okay, I’ve got to be scary. But then also, if you’re with the kdis, you want to have fun being naughty.

Dan: Do you think you take inspiration from kids a lot? Because I do. They’re very  honest in how they act and  how thye are in the world.

Helena: Oh yeah. They are. And I also think there’s a lot of Peter Pan about me anyway. I never really wanted to grow up. I grew up really young. I moved out when I was 13- that’s when I started acting. Dad  was really ill-he was pretty much paralyzed- so there was a part of me that felt like I had to become responsible.

Helena plays Dr. Julia Hoffman in the upcoming film Dark Shadows, which stars herself, Johnny Depp, and Michelle Pfeiffer. Dark Shadows opens on May 11th.
