Epilogue kids James, Albus and Hugo actors revealed
The names of the actors who play James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter and Hugo Weasley in the Deathly Hallows epilogue have been revealed. James is played by 14 year old Will Dunn, Albus by 12 year old Arthur Bowen, and 10 year old Ryan Turner is Hugo. Thanks to Snitchseeker and ScreenTerrier.

In May during the filming of the epilogue, pictures and videos appeared online of the aged Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco and Ginny as well as the kids.

Below is a video that I took when I went to visit Kings Cross during epilogue filming.

It shows brief clips of Dan, Rupert and Emma and good footage of the kids. (Note: the kids at the start are the actual actors and the ones at the end are their body doubles)

Arthur Bowen - Albus Will Dunn - James Ryan Turner - Hugo

Also of note in the ScreenTerrier article is the casting of Ellie Darcey-Alden and Rohan Gotobed as young Lily Potter and Sirius Black, presumably for a part in Snape's memories in The Prince's Tale. These two castings have been revealed before but we didn't report on them at the time.

Pottermore.com is now open to everyone

After an awfully long wait and many problems, JK Rowling’s Pottermore website is now open to registration from everyone!

Up to now only a million beta testers had been able to access the website, which provides an interactive Harry Potter reading experience with lots of new written content from JK Rowling.

But now they have made all necessary technical upgrades and a few visible changes (including sounds), everyone who was left out of the beta can now experience the magic for themselves.

We also hope they’ll release more books soon, as currently only Book 1 is available. Watch a sneak peek clip of Pottermore below:

First Look at the ‘Catalogue of Artefacts’ in Harry Potter: Wizards Collection

When the announcement for the Harry Potter: Wizards Collection came out, we told you that we would keep you posted with the latest news. Here, courtesy of hypable.com, is a first look at some new information from the Collection. Warner Bros. has released three pages from the Catalogue of Artefacts and here is what they said about the book:

This 48-page rigid book was created by MinaLima Design: Eduardo Lima, Miraphora Mina and Lauren Wakefield, former graphic designers on the Harry Potter films. Filled with their favorite props from the films designed in “shadow boxes,” this stunning catalogue can only be found in the Wizard’s Collection.

One of the above mentioned designers, Lauren Wakefield, had this to say in a recent interview about her work with the Collection:

These props have an unusual history in that they were all designed, crafted and archived within one studio setting, by in-house designers and craftspeople. We wanted the catalogue to bring together this unique family of artefacts, in a logical but creative way, and to capture the magic they brought to the films. Shadow boxes were a charming way to pay homage to the working environment of the film studios and to suggest how, for each set, there would usually be a collection of props standing by, ready for action.

JK Rowling launches revamped website, reveals title and details of new book!

Update: some great news that we didn’t spot at first on JKR’s new site is in the FAQ’s where she confirms that she has ‘started work’ on a Harry Potter encyclopaedia! She notes that all royalties would go to charity, as with her previous HP companion books.

Woah, big news just came out of nowhere! JK Rowling just relaunched her website JKRowling.com, with a fantastic timeline of events in her career. Check it out here.

Also just announced is the title and some details of Jo’s new novel for adults! It is to be called The Casual Vacancy, will be released on 27th September 2012, will be 480 pages long, and is described as ‘blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising’. Agency Little, Brown released this:

Little, Brown Book Group announces that the new novel for adults by J.K. Rowling is entitled The Casual Vacancy.  The book will be published worldwide in the English language in hardback, ebook, unabridged audio download and on CD on Thursday 27th September 2012.

The Casual Vacancy

When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems.

And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

Blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising, The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults.
